Kind of thinking out loud here.
For the last few weeks I've been thinking about Bruce Reeds record for the fastest T4 powered cosworth, which currently stands at 191.6. As most of you's know AVA have built up my saph and turbos and now being discussed. I have a choice of going roller bearing t4 or going for the new T4 with a bigger compressor that's capable of a wee bit more. Alan reckons its a 600 bhp turbo. Think I should go for it? Think it will be enough? Bruce Reed done it with nitrous, I want to do it without.

Sounds like your thinking of going the same way as Euan and chasing numbers for times
IMO all your goni do is throw loads of money at it and take the enjoyment out the car
Just get the car back out and enjoy it IMO

To be honest I'd probably go for it if I was you Eddie, the cars not exactly a daily driver and at the proposed power it's gony be pretty undrivable and unreliable with either T4 on it so why not go out in a blaze of glory
Money wise there can't be a massive difference on the price of the turbos a grand or so
It's just the cost of an engine rebuild that would scare the hell out of me

Have to agree with Gibby here , Euan threw loads of dosh to Alan ( AVA ) and after he did what he could speed wise out the car , which was impressive , it was all over
car was sold or broken cant remember but was sad after all the money and time for a short period of fun .

Maybe I wasn't as clear in my original post, the written word was never my strong point!! I have no intention of chasing the record if I don't get it. It's more a case of when the cars finished to the way I want it I wouldn't mind having a go and seeing how close I could get.
My plan with the car was always to reach the 500@wheels mark when i blew it up a few years ago. Which when it comes back out soon I won't be far from at all. From Euans spec and where mine is the only difference is I'm on a pretty much standard T4 and his was roller bearing. My question was more should I go for the roller bearing T4 or the newer one.
Andy I know I need those things, all in the pipeline.

Get it booked into the RAF MRham event where it's timed 30-130 mph then carry on and do the top speed run
It was cancelled this year , but sure it will be back again next year
Or goto TOTB as IMSY did lady year but when your seeing cars doing over 200 mph it's nuts

i did a back to back test on an engine years ago with the T4 and roller T4 ,when i was developing my fiesta . it developed 550 BHP /444 torqs with 8 803s and T4 and 572BHP / 484torqs with roller T4 ,not alot in it but there is a benefit ,sadly the engines sitting in my garage unused since so cant comment on in car performance
i have an wolf touring car rs500 thats running a mountune engine with roller T4 and 8 grey 403s thats dyno,d at 610bhp so its possible but its an animal and not for road use
ended up building another engine with 618 bhp for my fiesta using a GT35/28 hybrid and now at around 640bhp with more mods etc
note to self , get the damn thing back out !

I probably sounded quite blazey with my previous comment but I spoke to Eddie in depth about his plans for the Saph and the current spec at the last meet night hence my blazey reply
