S2 UNDERSIDE TIDY UP

After finally getting some motivation I have started stripping the underside of the car to
clean up, paint/powdercoat and fit new bushes.

Start off with a couple of photos for now and keep updating as it progresses so please all comments welcome.

Started off sanding down the wheel well


1st coat of paint up to rear crossmember



Removed fuel tank, underside has been undersealed but some surface rust on the top


Oh and this is what happens when the ratchet slips and stitches are required, numpty


Have now done final coat of paint on wheel well and now where fuel tank sits so stripping all rear suspension tomorrow and then more sanding and painting of the floor. Pics will follow soon

Though I'd give a wee update.


Got tie bars, axles anti-roll bar and clamps powdercoated silver with arms and springs in anthricite.
Also got anthricte sump and still to get front roll bar with clamps, gearbox cradle and springs done in anthricite/silver!


Full set of Polybushes to go on front/rear. Went for flo-flex, had them before on a car and had no complaints despite the crap you hear on PF sometimes but liked them as I think the orange on the underside will be a good contrast! Each to their own I suppose



Nice shiney stainless fuel pump holder


Once again orange exhaust polys with new stainless clamps.

Oh and thanks to one of the clubs oldest members for sorting me out a good deal......... you know who you are

Looks nice mate are you replacing the nuts and bolts ? if you are, be preparedto get your
pants pulled down by ford as ive just had

he has load of bits for a mk4

putin new rear chassis legs on so in strip dwn mode lol

a was takin the fule pump bracket of n its rotted 2 fuk as u props wil know lol
a saw the 1 u have in ur picks and would b most greatfull if u could tell me where u got urs from ??

Quick update

Not done much recently as had some personal problems but painted a few bits today.

Happy enough with the finish but as JPA said its easy, just all in the prep

(For guys looking for nuts and bolts I always use a local ironmonger which are alot cheaper than ford)
