Speedo drive

The S2 is in for a few bits n pieces this week, my only worry for the MOT is the speedo drive. I think the gear is humped but I'm told this may be the crown wheel bearings collapsing and the plastic gear being out of mesh. Has anyone had any experience with this problem and how did you fix it?
Cheers, Paul

theres a plastic drive gear on the gear box mate where the speedo screws in place they do wear over time and they can be a barstward to get out ,,if you get a pair of mole grips and clamp them on to the threaded bit on the drive and just wiggle from side to side that tends to push the pin out
sometimes
