Unfortunately the entire car club scene, including the RS groups, has seen a downturn in membership due to a variety of reasons but for us and the RSOC generally the issues are the increasing cost of buying the RS cars, increase in facebook "groups" which are forums but not actual clubs. The problem is a lot of folk just don't want to actually meet up, as we do, once a month.
Our group has a variety of RS and non-RS cars as well as a lot of track cars, the reason the group survives and we still have a decent core membership and regular meet is because we do not limit membership to RS only. This does not sit well with some others who won't actually be part of the club because we allow other cars in, at the end of the day we all have an interest in the RS marque.
The group is well known in the RS scene and within the track scene at Knockhill etc. We do get new members from time to time but different people want different things from clubs and it's very difficult to please everyone.
As for Kames the show has been successful for years but it takes a lot of organising and this year there is not enough support available. Many members are doing other things this year including racing so it was agreed we would take a year out from having a show. It was discussed at the AGM and other meetnights.
There will be a change of meetnight location from next month, details will be up soon.
