Absolutely stunning shifty 8-)

To be involved in a rebuild on one classic escort would be brilliant but to have TWO on the go, AWESOME :o :o

Hats off to you and your dad. All the time , effort and cost in building them will be more than worth it.

Hi Gordon, yeah she's all taxed and motd, thanks for asking mate 8-)
Also had her down at Seditas in Prestwick to be set up and balanced with the new 45's fitted, made a great differance!
Took her out for a run on the sat after mot etc, although when we just got home there was a dodgy noise coming from diff!...lsd pack plates were goosed so we took the 4.4 out and fitted its standard open diff in, think its a 3.9 maybe - ideal for going down to the lakes on motorway!...the wee thing was shaking herself to death with the 4.4....including me!
Getting the 4.4 sorted to go back in....aint as fun without the lsd!
We got some well needed intercom sets for her today also as you cana even hear yourself think let alone hear your navigator!

We will be heading down to the lakes on the friday early doors, fingers crossed its stops raining!
Will no doubt catch up with some of ya's down there 8-)

Cheers Stu, aye mate there spot on and loud too 8-)
Iv seen and heard of 48's and even 50's im sure on an old crossflow, so were doin awright with th 45's...loose a bit low down but picks right up halway through the revs 8-)
Your right about Seditas, were chuffed with what they donw with the car - took her out for a session on road aswell when setting up.
Was pleased to see older lads working on her, the Laurence dude knows his stuff 8-)
Cool mate cya sunday, were heading back down tomorrow.

Well for those that dont know already...dissaster has struck on the wee mk1  lol
Was booked on the sose tracknight last week....but couldnt make it as car was breathing heavy and spurting oil out of breather etc....the folks didnt want to take her on as she wasnt 100% and there was a risk of maybe doing more damage or doing two laps then getting sent off for leaving drips of oil lol...took head off that night and turns out piston rings away....its had these simptoms from after the lakes but still started no bother, never burnt any oil and had plenty of poke!...done they donuts nobother and thats with the rings broke! :o

Engine is now out and on bench...getting a new set of pistons, rings and shells etc...feckin nightmare more money - more work!
Just when you think you can have a break and actually enjoy the car!

Jeez o iv not updated this in a good while - since last post engine was stripped and new pistons n rings, mocal catch tank, grp4 rad and elec fan etc fitted, she's now goin like a wee sweetie :D .........right time for the new update:...
----------------

Howdy folks thought id give you a wee update on whats been happening with the mk1 over the past while.
She is going to be going onto gravel stages soon so we have been doing some more mods...

Which were as follows.....

Got her in and on stands etc ready to weld on the chassis to sill skids, had to remove mudflaps for welding.
Image

This is what the chassis to sill skids look like, good 2-3mm formed plate
Image

This is where they go
Image

Had to bore a hole for cage bolt and trim other end where it meets chassis leg for snug fit
Image

Prepped and welded in place
Image
Other side
Image
Image

Some primer then gloss going on
Image
Image

Also fitted the new tran x straight cut type 9 box 8-) , with taller 1st gear.
Image

Had to purchase a nice new set of hard compound Kumho Gravel spec tyres...sure to rip up the dirt! lol
Image
Image

Back to bed ready to go!
Image

Theres some more things planned so anymore updates il post em up.

Time for a wee update on the mk1.....finally done the gravel test day and had a blast.

Going to be sorting the underside with full length chassis to sill skids, got ones up front and they worked a treat with the gravel rash!...once I get em welded on and all painted il get some more pics up.....

Heres some pics and a wee vid clip....

***be prepared...you may never have seen her this manky!***

Big thanks to everyone @ EACC for todays event :D 8-) ...cana wait till next one! :D

Got her in the workshop today and jacked her up to see what the forest stage had done.....
Going to fit full legtnth chassis to sill skids next week as we have the fronts but full legnth ones would be spot on...as you can see it fair takes the paint off! ....all well worth it tho! :D

Thankfully she is a solid wee fooker as the stage can knock hell out the cars!

GRAVEL RASH PICS!!!....

You don't appreciate how much abuse the underside gets until you see it close up :o

Probably sounds even worse from inside the car..
