pacific blue escort(GT30 update)

Well with just getting back into an escort I thought I would start a thread to keep note of any changes made. After chasing power with my old car and making a bad choice in tuners, this car will be kept under 400 bhp and hopefully as reliable as possible. The only change I might make is to go back to a standard exhaust cam and get a remap to help bottom end response.

First plans are to sort the small faults on the car so the fuse box will be replaced or repaired, and the pod gauges sent off to Brendan.

The progress will be slow but i have a few parts lying already both left over from K60SSE and from my Porsche.

Just now the car is running a 310mm disk upgrade on the front , but i have these lying so may look at making up a brake kit with the 310's on the rears and 350+ on the front.

The standard boost gauge is pointless so my old Collins 40psi gauge will be fitted in one of Mikes pillar pods

Image

I also found my old strut top caps so these will get a coat of wrinkle black along with a brake res cover to fit in with the engine bay.

I was lucky enough to have picked up a Ryan loom last week from Doug Stirling , that fits the spec of the car with coil pack, cam cover trigger... so with any luck this along with an uprated fan loom will be fitted at somepoint.

Image

The only other parts I could find was my old rear strutbrace and dump valve, Im not sure if either of these will be fitted but if they do they will both be painted black first.

In the mean time the car is tucked up in the garage with the heaters on

Well no new parts fitted yet but i do have some collected, also found out the engine spec.

Built by A1
long studded 200 block
wrc gasket
7.2:1 pistons
BD14 in BD10 out cams
Ported head and matched inlet
T34.63
55lb blacks

Plan is now to go back to standard exhaust cam and change the exhaust housing to a .55, to try and make it as responsive as possible on the low comp engine.

I also have some standard headlights ready to fit but need to sort out some sidelights.

Standard lights are a vast improvement Neil. Morettes are so "old hat" nowadays.

I'm liking the other mods too mate. Really is a lovely car 8-)
Just dont go chasing crazy power figures like the last one........... enjoy it!! ;)

PS- what did your last one make at the end up?? Over 550bhp iirc??

Stu - Dont worry i wont be going chasing power with this one if anything it will end up with less power than i has justnow, but be more drivable with the smaller cam and ex housing on the turbo.
I dont know wht power my old car ended up with never did get to see a print out for it , but never got a decent map either so wouldnt be 550.

The Gillard is my toy but havent used it in months , really need to get it out first dry day.

There is a change o plans on the brakes again , it will now have a 380mm front setup with the 310 mm disks on the rear using either th standard calipers or if i can get it to work Porsche 4 pots and the standard caliper as handbrake only.

Bit of a change on the brake front as i won these on Ebay the other night.

380mm Alcons

Bit of a tight fit
Ive had to remove the weights so will need to get the wheels re-balanced now.

Going to mod the old 310mm front kit to fit on the rears, only need to skim the caliper to take the wider disk. I plan to eventualy use my brembo 4 pots on the rear and the original as handbrake only.

Cheers Dalsy know what your saying about the wheels had the car out today and yo cant even see the brakes, did think of painting the calipers to make them stand out but decided against it.
The old 310mm front kit with caliper brackets and red stuff pads is now forsale.

Dropped the car of yesterday to be detailed and nipped in today to check on progress, should get it back on Mon or Tues.
I have also ordered a set of 300mm rears from Reyland , which will be here at the start of the week.
