whats everybodys plans for there cars over the winter then ?

Postby gibby » Tue Oct 25, 2011 10:02 pm

as above

now the majority of the cars are of the road for the winter ,

whats everybody got planned to do to there cars , if anything ?

my plans are to completely strip the car to a bare shell ,

give the full car a fresh coat of paint ,
do a full underside resto (paint/powdercoat everything and renew all bushes and bearings etc)
fit all the new bits i,ve been buying/collecting like new heatshield , new expansion tank , pirelli p zeros all round etc

basically get the car looking completely standard with all original/standard parts again

Doing sweet FA to the car this winter, if I can save a bob here or there then maybe it'll head to the bodyshop for a new arch/filler section, and I'll finally get the boot from shifty that I've been saying I'll have for the last year and get that sprayed and fitted (not that I've been at all lazy with getting my finger out with that one.. Lol) but as ever, those are if's, depends how well the st24 runs, fingers crossed it'll be a reliable runner for me!

Not doing to much major work....... and it takes me ages to get round to everything anyway, so the list below will probably take me into 2013 :? :?

Fiesta:
Fit new management, tune & set-up
Replace knackered gearbox mounts with proper race items
Replace full rear beam
Do a couple of bits of minor welding to tidy up inside & engine bay
Paint inside of car
Refit breather system with silicone hoses

M3:
Fit new rear tyres
Fit new springs all round
Replace full grey leather interior with black
Remove wood pack & replace with carbon fibre
Dye hood black
Refurb wheels

Puma:
Getting rid May/June, to be replaced by Mk1 Focus RS, Focus ST or most likely Fiesta ST

PS- if i start working on the house, none of the above will get done

Fiesta fit new Newman phase 4 cam and Newman solid lifters, fit new Turbosmart boost controler, purchase a new front mount cooler and slim line rad fan. Get ma new fuel filler neck fitted  fit my new uprated fuel pump. Then maybe 4 new toyo R888 tyres and I'm considering a cage as I fancy booking some track days next year

Sereis 1 well with working down south all year, the Fiesta and moving home soon it's been pretty much at a full stop but over the Winter I'll be looking to buy a 4x4 donor and get the ball rolling with the fab work

I'm hoping for a mouse free garage for the fiesta then for the first time in at least 10 years I will attempt to do something myself :) I want to take the interior out and paint the floor and remove, clean and refit the rear windows. Also I want to clean the engine bay. Not very impressive but sure to take me ages!

Other than that Focus ST170 estate needs a proper clean and the scooby needs the calipers painted and the wing sorted (courtesy of DS Restos hopefully :D )

Too many cars and too many plans! Not enough time or money, so I'd take this list with a pinch of salt

Cossie - sort various bits and pieces, new diff, group A coil, gap the plugs, boost gauge and AFR gauge, swap to cloth interior

Alfa 155 Q4 - new actuator, repspray, spoiler jacking kit, Cossie leather, AFR gauge, big intercooler

Volvo - 850R alloys, maybe get the wing painted

Discovery - maybe tints, PAS pump maybe, maybe a small bit of paint if it can be done on the cheap!

Drift Saph - maybe do a drift day if I get the chance, (real busy though, and got no trailer over the winter months!).

Drift Capri project - Get it built and compete in Spring! Currently a shell at Chizfab being built, hopefully also paying visits to MJ Racing and Sitech, but early days yet.

Mk3 Escort - sod all once again, it'll get seen to one day

Trace's Escort - The only one that's certainly off the road for winter 8-)
