I like the idea of another photoshoot wether it be at a Dealership again or just locational like Scone :D

I would love to do another track evening again at Knockhill before Kames if we could get enough cars to pay for the track

More local events sounds good too as I will doing more RSOC Track days this year with the Fiesta so won't be on the stand as much at some of the shows but the local events will give me chance to catch back up on the stand 8-)

I think the Scottish car show at Ingliston this year is on the same date as the RS show at Knockhill. It was the same in 2010.

I love this thread !

Why ?

Simples , everyone loves Knockhill track events, but, we as a group expect the track cars to cover all our costs !

but what no one realises is that the track cars cover the costs of "our" regional day and the profits go towards

the likes of Knockhill from the gate etc ......

So in other words support your group and they'll support you .

only my opinion , but true /

Yip like your opinion Goafer.
Talking about supporting our club with me being a relative newbee to the club,
it seems that when i go to the meet nights (not all of them) it looks like the same
people every month, buying raffles and donating prizes which build our funds,
and when i go to shows there is loads of faces ive never seen, what am trying to say
is people that dont go to any meet nights should not get the same benefits as those
who do so why be in a club if you dont want to be supportive all year round. rant finished!

Hi, I'm new here and haven't managed to make a meeting yet.

I think Stuart and Grant may be onto something with the road trip idea.
A lot of people will be put off arriving at a pub they don't know on their own, walking in to find a group of strangers for the first time, it can be quiet daunting.
I have personal experience from previous RSOC membership in the mid 90s, where I was completely ignored on 2 separate meetings in Stirling and thought sod these cleeky buggers, I'm off.

The road trip is something which the TVR club, BMW club and Pistonheads do, although the TVR run is absolutely nuts and they drive like fruitbats, usually getting flashed and tooted at by other motorists for bad behaviour - not good.

The Pistonheads & BMW runs are well organised, with notice of intent put up around 4 weeks in advance to give people a chance to plan so they can attend / get the car ready.
The route is PM'd to you, and rules are observe speed limits, no nasty overtaking, no Nissan Micras and so on.
I think this type of thing might get people in the club to attend; a 1 day Saturday or Sunday run somewhere with nice roads, a bite to eat, some photo opportunities, chance to enter raffle/buy club merchandise and back down the road.
It would let people put names to faces, get people talking and might get more people attending the meet nights.

Just my thoughts.
Cheers
John

Thanks for all the seggestions folks

Were having a commitee meeting Tonite so all these ideas will be discussed and hopefully come up with a few new days out/ shows for the club to attend

John as for turning up to meetnites and getting ignored , a good few members of the club also went to the same local group and got treated the same and thankfully saw past that and attended our meetnite and are now members of our club

If you attend a meetnite as you say going in to a strange pub would be the hardest part but once there you'll get to know everybody so hopefully see you at next months meetnite

Being from Motherwell you'd probably be surprised at how many members you'd already know as the majority are from that area

just a thought , in the jag club they run treasure hunts incorporated into a days run to a venue usually a saturday run for a sunday show , this may appeal to some people , takes a bit to set up but im sure it would go down well? ;)

I came all the way down from Lochgilphead to Kames last year before I was a member for the meet in my Fiesta ST. I parked up, walked around and spoke to a few folk. A guy with the black sapphire that Ade was snapping was funny and was getting te banter with him for a bit, and a very sound guy with a white fiesta turbo which was for sale at the time. Not sure if thats dereksjoint?? If he remembers we were talking about polish n wax for a bit. Lol. They were very welcoming and friendly and I wouldn't have any issues turning up at a meet. I know that's the only meet I've been at but it was a good one. I'd love to come to the weeknight meets but I work in a remote quarry on the west of Scotland and stay there from Monday to Friday so I'd miss most. Anyhow just a new persons 2p worth here. Hope to meet you all again soon!

Cheers, Paul

As a non RS owner i came to this club last year through Keith and Rab but over time after being to a few shows and the regional days have got to know a few others. Ive never been made feel anything other than welcome even though i could fully understand people saying wtf thats a st go and pee off to a st club! like Emma my intention is to move onto a RS in time and enjoy being part of this club learning more about the cars but untill now in life could never justify having a 2nd car let alone a Rs

Admit yeah at first felt abit daunting purely becuase im not a Rs owner and cant always make meet nights but in any other way im more than happy helping at the regional days, and supporting the club funds ect as im not here for the freebies on track days ect i enjoy the banter as stevie said it is a great bunch people with both track and show cars

But in saying that if anyone does have issues having a non Rs at shows then id rather leave it to you guys instead of people saying you shouldnt be on the stands
