Hi, I'm new here and haven't managed to make a meeting yet.
I think Stuart and Grant may be onto something with the road trip idea.
A lot of people will be put off arriving at a pub they don't know on their own, walking in to find a group of strangers for the first time, it can be quiet daunting.
I have personal experience from previous RSOC membership in the mid 90s, where I was completely ignored on 2 separate meetings in Stirling and thought sod these cleeky buggers, I'm off.
The road trip is something which the TVR club, BMW club and Pistonheads do, although the TVR run is absolutely nuts and they drive like fruitbats, usually getting flashed and tooted at by other motorists for bad behaviour - not good.
The Pistonheads & BMW runs are well organised, with notice of intent put up around 4 weeks in advance to give people a chance to plan so they can attend / get the car ready.
The route is PM'd to you, and rules are observe speed limits, no nasty overtaking, no Nissan Micras and so on.
I think this type of thing might get people in the club to attend; a 1 day Saturday or Sunday run somewhere with nice roads, a bite to eat, some photo opportunities, chance to enter raffle/buy club merchandise and back down the road.
It would let people put names to faces, get people talking and might get more people attending the meet nights.
Just my thoughts.
Cheers
John
